Corton Beach - Under threat

The naturist beach near Lowestoft, Suffolk is under threat of closure:

I quote from the council’s web page:-

The naturist beach was founded by Waveney District Council in the mid-1970s. At this time, Corton village had a long sandy beach which was used by locals and a large number of visitors and this ensured that there was plenty of beach available for both naturists and non-naturists.

However, there has been significant beach erosion during the past 20 years leading to a reduction of some 80% of available beach space. Therefore, the communities of Corton and the visitors to this area have little or no beach to access, without entering the designated naturist area.

This Council is therefore proposing that the naturist area is de-designated – thus offering everyone the opportunity to enjoy a beach space they may hitherto have felt discouraged from visiting.

We suggest that you take a look at the proposals and add your input to the debate.
